ピアッツァの精神的支柱は母から受け継いだ深いカトリック信仰であり、2016年の殿堂入りスピーチでも教皇ベネディクト16世の言葉を引用して感謝を語った。また熱狂的なヘビーメタル・ファンであり、元オジー・オズボーンのギタリスト、ザック・ワイルドと親交を結び、アルバムに参加したり息子のゴッドファーザーを務めたりした。
2013年にはマイアミ・シティ・バレエの演目『10番街の殺人』に殺し屋役でゲスト出演。2016年から2018年にはイタリアのサッカークラブ「A.C.レッジアーナ1919」のオーナーを務め、2023年の第5回WBCではイタリア代表監督としてチームを東京ドームでの準々決勝進出に導いた。
